How to find a Medicaid transportation provider in New York

In New York, Medicaid transportation is arranged through MAS (Medical Answering Services) at 1-844-666-6270. You have the right to request a specific provider — say DachiPlus when asked. MAS will assign your trip to us if we have availability for your time and trip type in Nassau or Suffolk County.

Understanding how the MAS assignment system works — and knowing your right to request a specific provider — puts you in control of who shows up at your door.

How does New York Medicaid assign transportation providers?

New York State contracts with MAS (Medical Answering Services) to manage Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) across the state. When you call MAS, an agent verifies your eligibility, confirms your appointment is a covered medical service, and then assigns the trip to a credentialed provider in your area.

By default, MAS assigns based on availability and proximity. But you are not required to accept the default — you have the right to request a specific provider under New York State Medicaid policy.

Can I choose my own Medicaid transportation provider in New York?

Yes. New York Medicaid members have the right to request a specific credentialed transportation provider through MAS. This right is established in state NEMT policy and MAS is required to honor the request if the provider has availability for your trip type, date, and time window.

There is no extra step or paperwork required. You simply tell the MAS agent which provider you want during the booking call.

How do I request a specific NEMT provider through MAS?

During your call to MAS at 1-844-666-6270, the agent will ask if you have a provider preference. Say the provider's name clearly. For DachiPlus:

Say this on the call

"I would like DachiPlus as my transportation provider."

If MAS asks for confirmation that you've used the provider before, you can say you were referred to us or that you've heard of us. There is no eligibility requirement to use a specific provider beyond their availability.

What if my preferred provider is not available?

If DachiPlus doesn't have availability for your specific date and time, MAS will offer to assign a different provider. You have a few options:

  • Ask MAS if a slightly different pickup time the same day would allow DachiPlus to be assigned.
  • Accept MAS's assigned provider for that trip and request DachiPlus for your next appointment.
  • Book the trip privately by calling DachiPlus directly at (516) 754-7777 — private-pay trips do not go through MAS.

How do I find DachiPlus for trips in Nassau or Suffolk County?

DachiPlus is a credentialed Medicaid NEMT provider through MAS, serving all of Nassau and Suffolk County. When you call MAS and say "DachiPlus," MAS will find us in their provider database for Long Island. You do not need a provider ID or referral code — just the name.

For private-pay trips, hospital discharges, or same-day urgent needs, call us directly at (516) 754-7777.
