Post-Surgery & Hospital Discharge Transportation on Long Island

After most surgeries and outpatient procedures, you cannot drive yourself home — and a taxi or rideshare isn't designed for someone still groggy from anesthesia. DachiPlus provides post-procedure transportation that handles the realities of post-op recovery: patient, unhurried drivers, room for crutches, walkers, and medical equipment, caregiver companion seating, and direct coordination with hospital discharge teams.

How we run your trip

Three promises on every ride

Your return ride is never an afterthought

Round trips are booked as two confirmed legs: your return pickup is scheduled before we ever pick you up. Nobody gets stranded at the clinic waiting for a ride back.

Dispatch you can actually reach

Call or text (516) 754-7777 and a dispatcher answers, Monday through Saturday, 6 AM to 8 PM. Same line before, during, and after your trip; running late or plans changed, you'll always reach a person.

The price is set before you ride

Medicaid trips through MAS cost you $0. Private-pay rates come from a published rate card and are quoted upfront: estimate your fare before you even call.

Before your ride

How should patients and caregivers prepare?

A little preparation makes every trip smoother. Here's what to have ready when you book or on the day of your ride.

  • ✓ Book as early as possible — ideally before your procedure date
  • ✓ Provide the hospital name, floor or unit, and your discharge coordinator's name
  • ✓ Let us know what equipment you will have: crutches, walker, drainage bag, oxygen
  • ✓ A companion is strongly recommended for post-anesthesia patients — request a companion seat
  • ✓ Bring your discharge paperwork and any new prescriptions
  • ✓ Wear loose, comfortable clothing that accommodates bandages or casts

FAQ

Post-Surgery Transport — common questions

Can I book a private-pay ride for today?

+

Yes, when vehicles are available. Same-day private booking depends on driver availability and pickup location. Call (516) 754-7777 to check; we confirm or decline same-day requests within the call.

Do you coordinate directly with hospital discharge planners?

+

Yes. We have established relationships with case management and discharge planning teams at most Long Island hospitals. Hospital social workers and case managers can call us directly at (516) 754-7777 to arrange same-day discharge transportation.

What kind of vehicle do you use for post-surgery pickups?

+

For post-surgery pickups we send a roomier sedan or SUV by default — more space, lower step-in heights, and room for crutches, walkers, knee scooters, and IV poles. Drivers know to load gently, avoid sharp acceleration or braking, and assist with seat positioning. If you cannot transfer to a seat and must remain in a wheelchair, we coordinate a lift-equipped WAV through a licensed partner — tell us at booking.
